Zoom! Whitening
Zoom! Whitening
Your smile is important. It's one of the first things people notice about you. A whiter, brighter smile makes a great impression and can help you feel more confident.
Staining of the teeth occurs naturally with age. Other lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking coffee, tea, or red wine, increases yellowing and staining of the teeth. More and more people want a whiter smile, but don’t want to spend a lot of time or constantly deal with messy trays and gels.
Zoom! is a safe, effective, and long-lasting tooth whitening solution that is performed in our office in under an hour
How does it work?
Zoom! is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. The light-activated whitening gel's active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. As the Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged. The Zoom! light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. A study has shown that use of the Zoom! lamp increases the effectiveness of the Zoom! gel by 26% or more, giving an average improvement of up to eight shades.
How long does it last?
By following some simple post-whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend flossing, brushing twice daily, and occasional touch-ups with Zoom! Weekender or Nite White gel. These are professional formula products designed specifically to keep your teeth their brightest. They are available only through your dental professional.
What can I expect?
The complete procedure takes less than an hour. A regular teeth cleaning is recommended prior to the Zoom teeth whitening session. The procedure begins with a short preparation to cover the lips and gums, leaving only the teeth exposed. The dentist or dental assistant then applies the Zoom hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, which works together with the Zoom light to penetrate the teeth and break up the stains and discoloration. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch TV or listen to music.
The gel is applied for three 15-minute sessions of light activation, for a total treatment time of 45 minutes. Immediately afterwards, a sensitivity-reducing fluoride paste-gel is applied to the teeth.
Sensitivity during the treatment may occur with some patients. Minor tingling sensations may be experienced immediately after the procedure, but always dissipate. You can also ask your dentist to supply you with anti-sensitivity toothpaste for use prior to treatment.
Zoom! Chairside Whitening Procedure is a scientifically advanced procedure. It’s safe, effective, and fast.
