Preventative Dentistry Services

It is recommended that everyone sees their dentist twice a year for dental check-ups. The reason is that frequent visits allow Dr. Skoretz to give you the best care while noticing any changes in your teeth and jaw. Cavities or other potential problems can be identified early when they are more easily treated, and you can enjoy clean healthy teeth for a lifetime.

During a preventative visit, a one of our dental hygienists will clean your teeth, remove built up plaque, tartar and stains, assess the health of your gums and all tooth surfaces, then floss and polish your teeth. The hygenist will also talk to you about brushing and flossing techniques and specific needs or concerns you may have. Some patients may receive a flouride treatment, and sometimes x-rays are recommended.

Once everything is checked and your teeth are clean, Dr. Skoretz will examine your teeth, mouth, and jaw. If x-rays were taken of your teeth and jaw, he will examine them closely for any problems or potential problems. Dr. Skoretz is a great resource of information concerning overall health as well as your oral health, and he will be glad to answer any of your questions.

How to prepare for your dental visit

* Get a good night's sleep
* Avoid beverages with caffeine or sugar on the day of your visit
* If your dental visit coincides with your mealtime, bring a healthy snack
* Wear comfortable clothing
* Bring a list of medications and vitamins (name and dosage)
* Jot down questions, and bring them with you

Is it expensive to visit the dentist regularly?

The cost incurred by regular dental examinations and timely x-rays pales in comparison to the costs of restorative dental work like root canal therapy and dental implants. It is also hard to put a price on your health and well being.

The relationship that you establish with your dentist and the preventative dental program that you develop will ensure a lifetime of good, pain-free dental health, and that is priceless.
